Description
Would it be possible to create a zoom tool that can focus in on a selection of the Map Composer by drawing an area? Currently the zoom tools work on a click to enlarge basis. If I am working on a large layout (A0, A1, A2) I then have to do a reasonable amount of panning to get to the area of interest. If I could draw an 'area of interest' with a zoom tool, it would take to the exact location that I want to see more clearly.

This is present in QGIS 2.2 - there's a new "Zoom" tool in the toolbar which functions as you've described. You can also switch at any time to this zoom mode by holding CTRL+Space and click-dragging a rectangle on the composition.
