Description
It would be more practical if the spatial index was automatically created when adding a shape file. It is needed anyway for larger shape files to be fast, and now it is hidden after a lot of clicks... and occasionally you forget a layer and then you need to go through all of them to find the culprit...
I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't want this (as it takes very little time to generate and doesn't quite fill your harddisk)... but it could be an option in the options to turn this off if someone wants to...
