Description
Hi
Did a clean install of QGIS 3 (latest version) with no issues on both desktop and laptop. I'm the only person with access and I do so with admin permissions. I'm able to open and edit shape files I've imported from ArcGIS, but when I attempt to create a new layer I get the following warning (under OGR):
2018-09-13T10:25:55 WARNING Creation of OGR data source Shelters.shp failed: Failed to create file Shelters.shp: Permission denied
Looking online for solutions, I found this: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/282434/permission-denied-when-creating-shapefile , but this person received professional help.
As my project is in its early days. it would not be a problem to re-install, but would need to know what to do differently in order to avoid this problem reoccurring

Check the location you're saving to - it's probably a location without write permission
