Description
In other GIS software is possible to set reference scale. It means, that I fix width of line, size for symbols, size for text... This is like freezing the symbol and text sizes used in your data frame.
It's useful to see the map's symbols on-screen at the size they will print. Is it possible to set something like this in QGIS?

I think this option is really a good feature to add specially for creating layouts where you need to fine tune the position of labels which often require zoom in to the area and declutter. Trying to do this today and it was one of those things where I just had to open another software to finish the job

- Resolution set to fixed/implemented
- Target version set to Version 2.16
- Status changed from Open to Closed
A "magnification" setting has been added in 2.16 to address this use case.
