WMS parameters option

Description
When adding a WMS layer the user is not given control over the URL used as this is put together by Quantum GIS using the inputs in the dialogue window. Would it be possible to have a parameters input box added to the dialogue which is very simply appended to the end of the request URL?
This would allow users to make use of the their WMS servers additional functionality such as filtering and alternative styling.
The user would just type &filter= as would be the case if creating the URL for use in OpenLayers and other web based GIS api's.
I don't believe this feature exists but it would be a huge improvement to the WMS capabilities and presumably a relatively small modification to the core programming (although I am not fully up to speed on the programming of QGIS).
