Description
I am using QGIS 1.9.0-Master (code version e9ebae2) on Windows 7 (64-bit) which I installed today using osgeo4w.
The new save edits button for editing vector layers is a great idea but all buttons except cancel remain greyed out unless I switch the focus between layers first. If I only have one layer this is not possible and so I only have the "fail-safe" method of saving edits by disenabling editing and responding to the prompt.
Reproduce the error by opening a new QGIS project. Then create a new shapefile and enable editing. Add some features and look at the save edits button (two pencils icon). All options except cancel will be greyed out. Now add another layer and notice the options are now available. Switch back to the first layer and edit it some more. Now notice that all options are again greyed out. Select your second layer and look at the save options and notice that they are no longer grey out.
