An error has occured while executing Python code:

AttributeError: 'builtin_function_or_method' object has no attribute 'getItem'

Are you sure you're using the master version and not the db_manager in ~/.qgis/python/plugins/?
I'm increasing the version number in master so users will see the popup message that warning them about it.

As well I'm fixing it out of master (in the original db_manager repo), but the master version was never affected by that problem.

Thanks - indeed I did have a copy of the plugins in my user plugins folder (and it works fine using the builtin version thanks).
