Description
As per Bug report #21085
Just noting that this is still a significant issue in version 3.4.4 (Madiera).
Deleting a small number of shapes is very slow. Deleting a large number of shapes crashes QGIS (not responding).

do you mean features? in what type of datasource? can you attach sample data?
have you tried with a new/clean profile (just to check that you don't have a 3rd party plugin messing with your installation)?
