Description
Every time I open any data set that is substantially larger than most, my entire hard drive dedicates 100% of its pull to the QGIS application. Essentially, once these files are open they render my entire PC useless. Sometimes the files will open and it will just take a moment, other times my computer will be frozen for an indefinite amount of time.

Hi Andrew, we'll need a little more details to reproduce and help you
what kind of dataset format, size, nb of rows, fields, type of geometries, is it indexed?
Does it happen on other machine? A faster disk solves the issue? Is it a network drive ?
Thanks
