Transportation

  • public transportation is efficient in Zurich and recommended - parking lots are limited and expensive, and there are many one way streets in the city center - be warned!
  • for transportation within Zurich (if your hotel/accommodation is not in walking distance) we recommend the 24 hour day passes. If you use them intelligently, you can use it in the morning, evening and next morning (if you arrive earlier the next day) - see day pass - they should cost CHF 8.20 per 24 hours - you need to buy a day pass for 1-2 zones (or Stadtnetz/city of Zurich)
  • people staying outside of Zurich can buy zone upgrades which are valid in combination with the regular 24h day pass
  • if you arrive from the airport and want to travel to Zurich you can either buy a 3-zone ticket (CHF 6.50, valid 1.5h) or, if buy a 24h ticket for Zurich (CHF 8.20) in combination with a 1-2 zone upgrade ticket (CHF 4.10)
  • please do not ride without a valid ticket - it costs approx. 100 CHF if you get caught, plus the hazzles ...
