Redmine Feature request #19379 (Open): precision option in vector tools select/join by locationhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/193792018-07-10T09:45:05ZJan Hendrik Petegem

The precision option in the select/join by location tools has been removed in qgis 3. Will it return in the near future?

I understood this to be due to a bug in the option according to a comment on stackexchange https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/268992/join-attributes-by-location-precision. My experience was at least that when using the option, exact intersects (difference of 0) where excluded from the results and only the not exact intersects but within the set precision where included
( 0 < distance <= precision).

The option is however essential for selecting and joining by location as geometries often don't exactly intersect. This can be due to different reasons like transferring data between different programs with different precisions (8 vs 10 decimals for instance), not snapped drawings and processing data.

Missing this option requires timeconsuming workarounds, like switching between arcgis (where it is possible) and qgis or snapping features before being able to use select/join by location (this is often not a preferred option).

Unfortynately, I cannot offer an idea for the solution. I hope to see the option returing soon.

A seen on the picture, 'item_id' is a variable. That would be very useful to recall another item's position variable (x,y, width, height). This way , in the situation seen on the picture, in the case of two or more attribute tables they could be automatically placed with a query in their position field.
Feature request #17810 (Open): easy possibility to make non-geometry table to geometry layer (in ...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/178102018-01-05T22:50:44ZKepes Ádámkepesadam88@gmail.com

Put the case that i have this kind of delimited text layer file:

SS,OP20,FP21,AR120.00000,ZE90.00000,SD10.0000,--04_ko

After opening it with only as an attribute table, i make a virtual field from "OP20" -> 20 and "FP21" -> 21 point numbers, than I connect them with another table wich contains these point numbers with their coordinates. After that, i would like to make automatic and length-labeled lines between these points, with making it to be a line-geometry layer. At least with a WKT generated virtual self-set virtual field.

I am sure there is an ability to do that now, but it must be a hard way. An easy way for that would be very useful and widely, dynamically usable!
Feature request #17769 (Open): add feature to open and read spreadsheets as layers!https://issues.qgis.org/issues/177692018-01-02T02:15:25ZKepes Ádámkepesadam88@gmail.com

In previous qgis versions there were "spreadsheet layers" module, with wich user could add xls and ods files, reading them as attribute tables. This could be a very useful feature!
Feature request #17768 (Open): make use of label placement settings even when using data defined ...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/177682018-01-02T02:09:44ZKepes Ádámkepesadam88@gmail.com

Data defined placement by expression only defines anchor point. That time normal label placement setting are not used by qgis. Based on that coordinate, added label placement setting would be very-very useful. For example I define with expression to place label at coordinates at the end of the line, but i would still want qgis to auto find a more optimized place for that label from 2 mm-s from that point.
Feature request #17756 (Open): automatic label placement between range of distanceshttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/177562017-12-29T02:05:02ZKepes Ádámkepesadam88@gmail.com

when having to write too many labels they can be crowded. If label placement distance from point would be given to a range (0.5mm - 3 mm for example), qgis engine would be able to find a much better way for placing labels.
Feature request #17742 (Open): QGIS 2.99 does not support KNN virtual tables indexhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/177422017-12-23T17:40:09Zsalvatore fiandaca

QGIS 2.99 does not support KNN virtual tables index for nearest neighbor problems - spatialite is required 4.4 :-(
Feature request #17710 (Open): Provide a snap package for Linux usershttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/177102017-12-18T01:01:42ZKristijan Zickristijan.zic@gmail.com

Please consider packaging QGIS as a snap package as it is a universal package and basically a new standard that works on any Linux distribution and it can bundle all dependencies regardless of the ones that come with the distro so you can push the new package to the users that have for ex. older versions of Qt with their distro without it conflicting with the QGIS one.

So there should be one package that works on any distro without any conflicts or distro specific hackery.

Here is the website of the tool for building snap packages.
Snapcraft - a tool for creating snaps.
https://snapcraft.io/
Feature request #16946 (Open): Split Line Featureshttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/169462017-08-01T07:23:36Zsrinivas rrsrinu36@gmail.com

There's a related old issue #12840 about this but I open a new one because it's about QGIS2.ini not being read by QGIS Server, while I would ask it in more general terms: looking inside the QGIS Server code it seems that it doesn't take into account any proxy setting. Is it right? It's not a bug certainly but an important missing feature for sure.
Can anybody confirm this?
Feature request #15413 (Open): Show printing boundary in Composerhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/154132016-08-10T00:34:58ZEvgeniy Zjohnzet@yandex.ru

It would be great if printing boundaries would be displayed in the composer in accordance with the selected printer. Just as it is implemented in ArcView 3.2 for example.
Feature request #13283 (Feedback): Relative paths to files and photoshttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/132832015-08-30T04:38:13Zdidier peeters

Although there is a setting in the project properties stating that relative paths must be used, it is not possible for photos or files, like in the forms widgets.
This is not consistent (relative paths can be used for resources like svg's for example) and seems to be a rather common problem in QGis, according to other open tickets. This is especially a difficulty when sharing a project between several users.
Feature request #11888 (Open): Warn the user when OGR "stretched" the column width to accommodate...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/118882014-12-18T05:54:02ZPeter Drexel

Hi all,
i stumble over 2 Issues editing Attributes:

First:
Step 1: I create a new Shapefile, then add 2 attribute columns (Type String, one length 50 and one length 5).
Step 2: Then I add a Feature to the Shapefile and set the first attribute to "First Value". Now I calculate the second one using the field calculator and set the second column = first column. Result: "First Value" ist written into the 2. column but I think it should be cut at Position 5 to "First"... It seems that the field length get automaticaly extended to the length of the first field.

Second:
If I fill in a 50 chars Text containing one "ä" or a "ö" or a "ü" (german special characters) to Field 1, and then save it, close Qgis, reopen it and load the shapefile into Qgis again then the length of Field 1 is extended to 51.
Thanks
Peter
Feature request #7581 (Open): raster calculator really needs support for conditional statements (...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/75812013-04-11T08:36:33ZGiovanni Manghigiovanni.manghi@gmail.com

One of the most common tasks a user can do in a raster workflow is to reclassify raster maps.

At this stage the raster calculator does not support conditional statements, so it is not possible to say (for example):

(ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1<=30)=1 OR (ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1>30)=2 OR (ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1>200)=5

the workaround is awful

(ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1<=30)*1 + (ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1>30)*2 + (ASTGTM2_N37W026_dem@1>200)*3

as the raster calc just return 1 or 0, so the user must multiply for the needed value doing also a few sums along the way (because it is not possible to use conditions).
Feature request #7145 (Open): Show layer groups in "identifiable layers" and "snapping options" p...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/71452013-02-11T04:48:57ZGiovanni Manghigiovanni.manghi@gmail.com

On large projects the layers are very often organized in groups.

So when you open "identifiable layers" if groups are not shown you see a very long list of layers, and detecting what is to be checked and what not is very hard.

ideally in this panel the structure of the TOC should be replicated.
