Redmine QGIS Application - Feature request #21992 (Open): [processing][xyz tiles] mask layer instead of bboxhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/219922019-05-03T12:39:06ZSaber Razmjooeisaber.razmjooei@lutraconsulting.co.uk

The tool is processing tiles in the bounding box of a layer (or other rectangle extends). This is useful in overviews. But especially in higher zoom-levels(for example zoom (19) 20/21/…)) combined with non-rectangle-like areas of interest, there is there is a risk of time-consuming rendering time without usable content. (There is a workaround to subdivide the area of interest in smaller areas. But after that users have merge mbtiles-outputs…). So it may be useful to have the option /ability to render just the tiles covering non-rectangle contents.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21990 (Open): [processing][xyz tiles] warn user when overwrit...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/219902019-05-03T12:32:05ZSaber Razmjooeisaber.razmjooei@lutraconsulting.co.uk

I'm using QGIS Desktop in macOS, the software suggest me to update to a newest version, but It is not available for my platform.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21889 (Open): Save Layer As targeting PostGIS and scratch layershttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/218892019-04-20T00:57:44ZThomas Koskitk@nuevomidstream.com

In the export menu there are many options for Save Layer As, but not included are a scratch layer or to a PostGIS database. Both of these would be helpful, and their omission is puzzling.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21800 (Open): Layer Order panel: support for groups?https://issues.qgis.org/issues/218002019-04-08T16:57:41ZGarth Fletchergarth@jacqcad.com

When a project contains hundreds of layers, the Layer Order Panel becomes awkward to navigate. Moving a layer can involve dragging it over hundreds of other layers.

I wonder if a "group" feature might improve the interface. This would be similar to, but independent of, the grouping scheme used in the Layer Panel

For example, a large set of orthophoto tiles would all be moved together and there is never a need to insert some other layer into the middle of the set. If a Group could be defined to include just those tiles, when collapsed it would shorten the layer list and ease moving other layers past it. Similar groups could be used for other related sets of layers.

Support would be needed for creating a group, dragging layers into (or out of) a group, collapsing or expanding a group, and possibly for deleting an empty group.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21695 (Open): Improve behavior of Geopackage Data Importhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/216952019-03-28T19:57:29ZBrett CarlockSynper311@aol.com

Related to #21694 :
I'd like to see the process of batch importing be easy for geopackages. A GUI dialog to load multiple layers would be great in addition to the current drag/drop method.

I'd also like to see the confirmation dialog not pop up for each and every layer imported one by one. A statusbar on a dialog showing currently importing layer, progress bar, and layer # out of total layer # would be far more helpful, with the option to confirm/close the dialog upon completion of the import.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21509 (Open): Mesh layers: add animationhttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/215092019-03-07T08:58:30ZPaolo Cavallinicavallini@faunalia.it

It would be useful to add a button to play the sequence of time slices in the canvas. Currently animation is only possible exporting a movie.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21480 (Open): Integrate Project Home to save optionshttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/214802019-03-05T14:04:49ZAndy Whyteandrew.g.whyte@gmail.com

I think it would be a nice addition to integrate the project home directory to save options throughout QGIS.

This would stop you from needing to navigate each time when using different functions. For example (see image) when you select the save options from processing algorithms.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21440 (Open): MDAL: improve the style of wind arrowshttps://issues.qgis.org/issues/214402019-03-01T13:43:11ZPaolo Cavallinicavallini@faunalia.it

The standard representation of wind arrows is more complex that what is currently displayed for MDAL data (see e.g. http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)/guides/maps/sfcobs/wnd.rxml). It would be good to add this style as default for wind.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21400 (Open): Install with check for operating system (e.g. w...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/214002019-02-26T19:25:57ZRudi Uhlrudi.uhl@foea.de

I was incidentally trying to install a QGIS Standalone Installer Version 3.6 (64 bit) on a 32 bit Win OS, which seemed to work, but gave a restart of the system at the end and left the start menu only with Grass Shortcuts. Starting C:\Program Files\QGIS 3.6\bin\qgis-bin-g7.exe manually finally gave the message that explained everything: wrong OS. It would be perfect if that bit of code could be copied to the install routine, thus preventing user misbehaviour ;-)
Thank you in advance, it's great to watch QGIS growing and getting better all the time!
QGIS Application - Feature request #21399 (Open): "There is a new QGIS version available. Visit.....https://issues.qgis.org/issues/213992019-02-26T18:13:27Zjb Peterjbpeter@outlook.com

For the past months, the yellow warning message "There is a new QDIS version available. Visit...." has almost always been visible on the startup page even so I am using the latest installation package available for mac OS. This is due to the fact that the latest installation package for mac does not match the current version of QGIS.

For most users, I think it would be more usefull to be informed when a new installation package is available for a specific OS. People who have the skills to compile QGIS from source most likely don't need a message to inform them that a new version is available.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21338 (Open): Option to add thousands delimiter when editing ...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/213382019-02-21T17:10:02ZAndy Whyteandrew.g.whyte@gmail.com

I would find it very useful to have an option to insert a thousands delimiter in the symbology tab of the layers properties. I am not aware of a quick simple work around.
QGIS Application - Feature request #21245 (Open): A more intuitive way to open the group/tab prop...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/212452019-02-12T17:36:41ZAlexandre Heurionaheurion@aquilex-ingenierie.fr

Using the formularies, sometimes we wish a group only shows up with some conditions. There is an option for that (called in french "Configurer le Conteneur") as a dialog box that opens by double clickling on a group name. Then we can write some expression allowing the group to shows up or not (cf.image).
However this is not an intuitive way to use this option (not as much as a "right clic > properties" weel used with Windows). For me, it should be better if the options included in this box are displayed directly at the right of the screen (cf.image) like the informations of the field when we're selecting one.
QGIS Application - Feature request #4281 (In Progress): More user friendly handling of geometryle...https://issues.qgis.org/issues/42812011-09-12T18:19:16ZAlister Hood

When adding a WFS layer with the option "only request features overlapping the current view extent", if there are no features in the current map extent, the layer is added, and looks like the top layer in the attached part of a screenshot.
On the symbology tab of the layer properties, the top row of the old symbology options is shown (legend type, single symbol, transparency, new symbology button). If you click the new symbology button, the dialog switches to the labels tab. The symbology tab behaviour is the same with geometryless tables (e.g. try with the layers stored in ~/.qgis/qgis.db).
I think the same things can occur with other layer types which can be loaded with a query (postgis, spatialite...)

1) Maybe it would be possible when loading a layer with a query, to detect if there are no features, and provide a message telling the user that there are none. (But a user might want to load an empty layer and add some features, so if the layer is writable, I guess the user should have a choice to load it...)

2) It would probably be less confusing if the symbology tab was not shown for a geometryless table.
